Lot Title: 1847 PCGS PR-62
Lot Number: 618
Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. The proof status can be instantly ascertained by observing the extreme sharpness of even the most minute details. Both of Liberty's hands display full separation between her fingers (her lower hand famously lacking one digit of anatomy), and every single segment in the eagle's talons has been brought up to remarkable precision. Even some tiny die-engraving lines within the reverse shield were brought up to maximum resolution. Due to some thin, opaque milky patina, the surface cannot be properly referenced as being "reflective", and fragile hints of mauve patina touches portions of each side. This said, fleeting hairlines will be seen darting through the fields, and these combine with an interesting linear planchet defect in the obverse right field to ascribe the grade level.
