Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1873 Open 3 PCGS MS-61
Lot Number: 289
Description: The whole is greater than the sum of the parts since the eye-appeal seems better than just MS-61 at first glance. Both sides gleam with delightful lemon-gold color, and indeed, the reverse would grade MS-63 all by itself, given the lack of heavy marks on that side. Examining the obverse left field explains why PCGS decided the coin could not attain a choice grade, since there is a fair number of hairlines and sliding abrasions in the area, although the balance of the obverse seems generally modestly abraded.
