Description: M. Diatom Collection. Bass-Danreuther-3, R.5+. Wide date. Evidently an early die-state, or struck off of refinished dies, only minimal signs of a die clash remain, mostly noticeable as a ghostly outline of the bust in the lower right quadrant of the reverse. Likewise, the surface is less lustrous and more reflective than expected for the type. The cataloger notes a bit of glue residue lurking in the vicinity of RICA on the reverse, and a few crumbles elsewhere, but it seems to be stable and causing no distraction. A very pleasantly non-abraded example that has no obvious adjustment marks, but one that should be professionally conserved for posterity.
