Description: M. Diatom Collection. Bass-Dannreuther-4, R.4 can easily be identified by the overdate and the lengthy die-crack trailing along the bottom of the obverse, as it is the only use of the obverse die. A generally canary gold example, the surface exudes slightly reflective texture and some faint, mottled bluish iridescence mingling with the luster. Several lengthy adjustment marks descend down the portrait. A number of microscopic, irregular surface ticks pepper the reverse, but are visible only with a strong loupe.
