Description: M. Diatom Collection. Bass-Dannreuther-6, R.4+, shows nice recutting of the "1" and "0" in the date. In this die state, on the reverse, there is a spindly die crack that begins at the arrowheads, projects upwards along the left side of the shield, and terminates within the stars above. This appears to be a fairly early use of the dies, because this same die crack has extended on later struck coins. Terrific royal-gold color endows this example with a beautiful sense of original preservation, and areas of each side display splashes of nicer copper-gold. Ample luster ratifies the assigned AU-55 grade.
