Lot Title: 1877-S and 1878-S Trade dollars, XF details
Lot Number: 531
Description: 1877-S (XF/acid treated) shows some unusual variation in surface texture on the reverse, as if it had been partly dipped in acid, although the obverse shows uniformly dull etching overall. 1878-S (XF/corroded/tooled) shows evidence of spot-porosity on the reverse, but also a peculiarly scrubbed portion of the obverse left field -- perhaps in effort to disguise some small contact marks. Problems for sure, but also much detail within this two coin lot.
