Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1901-S PCGS VG-8
Lot Number: 485
Description: Mintage: 72,664. If one could imagine THE poster coin for the VG-8 grade, this key 1901-S representative might be it. For decades of the hobby's existence, the grade could be ascertained merely by counting the letters in LIBERTY, and if one can count in half-increments, then it's easy to figure this example. "LI...TY" show full presence of "L" and "Y", while "I" and "T" are each precisely half present. Setting aside all the arithmetic, nobody would sensibly argue the fully vintage quality offered here, as each side exudes that perfect and supremely attractive interplay of charcoal accents over ash-grey fields. It is simply a drop-dead gorgeous very-good example that suffers absolutely no problems or distractions.
