Description:	An instant German colonial paper money collection! This binder offers 73 notes from German East Africa, bookended by a pair of major rarities from the series: Sept. 2, 1912 500 rupien (Pick-5), and a June 15, 1915 200 rupien (Pick-49) In addition, five other items (if sold individually) would command three figures each. Dozens of other issues offer an in-depth review of the full paper money history of this short-lived nation. Germany’s control over the region began in 1884, and in 1897 German East Africa became a colony of Germany proper. The region would remain in German hands until the end of World War I, which marks the end of paper money issues there. Multiple types are represented here, and multiple signatures are present on these notes. The value lies not just among the rarest items, but for the collection’s completeness. Postcards and a modern printers’ proof fantasy round out the lot. In-person inspection is a must to appreciate the offering. (JS)
