Description: A pair of Vikings – thick and thin – draw the bidder toward this lot. Wisps of purple-orange tinge the outer realm of the fields on the thin example of this popular octagonal U.S. Mint product. Subtle yellow silver tones with some light freckling to the right are present on the thick example of this Congressionally-approved medal. A Viking chief graces the obverse, while an unstaffed longship appears on each reverse. Though not coins, these are commonly collected as part of the early commemorative series. (JS)
