Description: 15 graded XF-45, 20 higher at PCGS. Aside from the mintmark being very weak, akin to a 1911-D quarter-eagle, some light wear has transpired over the reverse lower field, making it easy to miss the all-important letter "C". Circulation was significantly kinder than usual to this Charlotte emission as the surface has escaped almost entirely from any adverse abrasions, the grade determined solely by remaining definition. Mintage of 63,591 explains the low certified population even at circulated grade levels.
