Description: With the highest Charlotte mintage for half-eagles, the 1847-C fills the role of type for southern branch mint gold very nicely, when one can find a superbly original and decently struck example like this. A lovely "dirty gold" coin, the surface retains ample dark grey grunge from simple, honest wear as well as traces of frosty texture. A crips and highly appealing half-eagle.
