Description: M.O. Consignment. KM#YB26, Bitkin-25, Fr-163, St. Petersburg mint. Of its own accord, and certainly by comparison to the bullion-common circulation strikes, cameo proof examples of the 1877 5-roubles are supremely rare. Specified content is .917 fine gold (i.e. 22-karat) with about 6.54 grams weight expected (and under Alexander II, the mint would have been stringent in this regard). The mirrors adequately qualify this very choice example for cameo contrast, although the cataloger has not seen an example with deeper reflectivity -- that would be an astounding rarity. Sparse, trivial hairlines, especially on the reverse, can be individually detected and undoubtedly determine the grade.
