Lot Title: Russia - 1857 25 kopeks - PCGS PR-64CAM
Lot Number: 249
Description: Pacific Coast Consignment. KM#C-166.1, Bit-55, St. Petersburg mint, dotted design on edge. 1 graded PR-64 CAM at PCGS, zero higher, making this a candidate for finest-known honors. An exceptionally difficult coin to trace or research, sales records do show at most a handful of true proof strikings off the St. Petersburg mint, as well as an intriguing prooflike specimen struck in Warsaw. Detailing rivals that seen at the most advanced western European mints of the time, with the fields intensely reflective -- borderline DCAM on the obverse and certainly showing cameo depth on the reverse. Both rims display a fascinating pattern that appears to be the result of rough polishing during die preparation.
