Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1812 S-291, Small Date, UNC details/altered surfaces
Lot Number: 1007
Description: The Opa Collection. Sheldon-291, Breen die-state IV. The very late die-pairing can be identified by peripheral die-cracks, but is best inferred by noticing a prominent die chip that lands between "E" and "N" on the reverse. Clashmarks have been almost entirely polished off the obverse die but remain subtly visible on the reverse, the whole coin showing fabulous details at Cataloger's grade: [UNC/altered surface]. Despite the disclaimer, ample flowline luster remains widely visible, although attenuated by past delicate abrading to remove very limited surface porosity. What remains is a nicely recolored olive-brown surface with scarcely any tiny pores and amazingly few contact marks.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, CACG, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
