Lot Title: Three encased Lincoln cent mirrors
Lot Number: 349
Description: An encased cent mirror will almost always feature a one-cent coin, and most often a Lincoln cent, backed by a pocket-sized mirror and surrounded by advertising verbiage. They are akin to lucky coins but are much scarcer, especially in nice condition due to the propensity of such large items to incur wear and handling. They were a popular form of advertising from the early to middle twentieth century, with earlier examples actually lacking a coin at the center -- those featuring a coin tend to have been manufactured later. Here, the lucky collector has an unusual opportunity to obtain a trio of nicer examples for one bid. First is: KIBLER'S $9.99 SUITS or OVERCOATS" from Columbus, OH, and it features a 1913 cent that appears to grade Ch BU and essentially full red. The next are certainly creations by the same manufacturer. Second is: The Fair's 15th Anniversary / THE STORE THAT SAVES YOU MONEY from Waupaca, WI, enclosing a highly appealing 1912-D cent that appears to grade at least Ch BU and appears fully mint red. Third and final is: LINCOLN PHARMACY / THE PENSLAR STORE from Massillon, OH and it protects a 1919-S cent that should grade Ch BU with red-brown color definitely leaning toward the red end of the spectrum. Three item lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
