Description: Large mintmark. Cataloger's grade: [XF/improperly cleaned] and still showing some frosty luster in the reverse periphery. Overall, effects of an old cleaning have become significantly diminished by a layer of peach-amber patina that has started to layer the whole surface. Only a quarter-million 1872-CC half-dollars were struck, yet it is a notable key in the series, made all the more popular by the famous mintmark.
