Lot #: Go
Lot Title: Union Military Bond - 1865 $1 Jefferson City, Missouri PMG VF-20/rust
Lot Number: 85
Description: UG-21, R.10+ in our opinion (five to ten believed to exist). A revised authorization date on the back of the note sets it apart from UG11 which is otherwise the same type. Despite Missouri's reputation as a Midwest state, it is included in A Guide Book of Southern States Currency. The notes were created for payment to the Missouri Militia beginning in 1863, to be payable twelve months later. The design features a stately portrait of William S. Mosely at upper left, a portrait of America seated next to an eagle and a globe, and handwritten "Oct 1" at the date.
Certification: 2183009-012
