Lot Title: 1875-S/CC B-5792 PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 523
Description: High Promises Collection. FS-501, early die-state, type I / I. 10 graded MS-62, 21 higher at PCGS. Since another die-marriage that incorporates the famous S/CC mintmark has failed to surface, the variety enthusiast must be satisfied in looking at die-states instead. And here is what appears to be a prime die-state example, showing no evidence of die-cracks or clashing on either side. Adding to the notion of an early strike are the very bold details, including unusually high relief at the upraised olive branch as well as the precise delineation of the both eagle's talons. A raised dot on the "7" in the date is diagnostic of these sole known dies. This coin possesses considerable appeal for a specimen that doesn't meet choice requirements at PCGS, including strong luster and mostly bright surfaces. Probably a few scattered light hairlines are what placed the grade into conservative territory.
