Description: Offshore Technician Consignment. 7 graded MS-62, 7 higher at PCGS. While considered the most likely candidate for Dahlonega half-eagle type purposes, the 1853-D survives in mint-state only to an extremely limited extent, as can be inferred by the population report. At arm's length, the present example appears to be fully choice in spite of gentle luster that shows best between the peripheral stars. Closer examination shows delicate, feathery hairlines that may deduct a single point off the grade, yielding near-choice quality instead. One small nick on the lower cheek appears to be the sole notable contact mark.
