Description: Newcomb-9, which also struck proof examples, was taken off of shattered dies in this near-terminal state that make attribution a breeze. PCGS adequately estimates the color as red-brown, borne out by about a 50/50 helping on either side. Nonintrusive little flecks of darker grey might be the start of carbon spots but a well-protected copper coin need not worry over such concerns. Extensively lustrous and highly attractive.
