Lot Title: 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter PCGS AU-53 CACCAC
Lot Number: 889
Description: Gigi Consignment. Mintage: 52,000. Even for collectors not specifically enamored by the quarter-dollar series, the 1916's reputation stands near the top of the list of "must see" coins whenever any finer example appears on the market. The luster appears somewhat stronger than expected of AU-53 for this well detailed example, which also carries a very good strike, still possibly flirting with "full head" territory after seven points of wear overall. A thin veil of mossy grey-blue and tan toning on gunmetal-silver surfaces does little to impact the visible amount of luster. As is often the case for 1916, design elements on the reverse are slightly better struck and retain more intricate details than the obverse, as the back wing in particular appears to be fully defined. Just a very few wispy abrasions and an isolated area of rub below one knee will be found on the relatively clean surfaces.
