Lot Title: Seventeen large cents
Lot Number: 619
Description: Non-consecutive dates will nevertheless prove irresistible to many collectors since there are no repeats, which means a lot of holes get filled with better quality examples with a single successful high bid. Included are: 1816 (F/VF, color a bit uneven yet the reverse shows unexpected flowline texture), 1817 (VF, bold dark mahogany), 1818 (VF, ebony brown with a lot of flowline luster on the reverse), 1821 (Fine, definitely nicer than average for this difficult date), 1822 (Fine/reverse scratch, chocolate-brown except for an X scratched on the reverse), 1824 (Fine, uneven tone), 1925 (XF/surface roughness, some old yet generally even environmental damage), 1827 (F/VF, very pleasing caramel but a couple of obverse rim bumps), 1828 (VF/cleaned, and also some surface spots), 1830 (VF, a bit dark but not far off XF sharpness), 1831 (VF, superb color but a couple of faint old hairlines), 1832 (XF, some encrustation throughout which helps make this a very original coin), 1833 (VF, very close to XF sharpness yet also some encrustation on the reverse), 1834 (XF/reverse lightly cleaned, a couple of trivial hairlines crisscross in the obverse left field), 1835 (VF, fabulous caramel surface color and a flat-out handsome example), 1837 (XF/light corrosion, the reverse most distinctly shows even and only light microporosity), and 1839 booby head (VF if not a little better with pleasing ebony-brown color). Seventeen coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
