Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1811 PCGS XF-40
Lot Number: 618
Description: Sheldon-287. The three odd dates for the classic-head type -- 1809, 1811, and 1813 -- are all more difficult to locate than their even-date counterparts, and the 1811 of either date type frequently shows up with dark or rough surfaces. Here is an outstanding representative with respect to the fact that neither of those descriptors applies to any great extent. The surface exhibits darker umber-brown surface color, but not so dark as to be unappealing, and the glossy texture will appeal greatly to collectors used to lesser quality competition. Considerable flowline luster remains visible between peripheral devices. especially on the more-important obverse. Surface nicks include a blunt but fairly benign diagonal abrasion on the neck and a couple more strewn out left, while the reverse suffers even fewer abrasions.
