Lot Title: 1913-S PCGS MS-65+RD CACCAC
Lot Number: 715
Description:

The Berry Tree Consignment. 19 graded MS-65+ RD, 5 higher at PCGS. It's tough to conceive of a nicer 1913-S than this "strong gem", as it boasts amazingly sharp definition and intriguing luster that looks very much like that of a matte proof. By no means is the cataloger suggesting some sort of specimen strike, but the combination of very strong technical aspirations suggests a coin struck off of brand new dies, that was then jealously guarded against the ravages of time. Laser-orange hue doesn't "blaze" from the surface - bear in mind the suggestion of "matte prooflike luster" - but there is no denying the appeal of the glittering effect. Amazingly free from distraction, only a couple of the most minute carbon specks possible can be found with persistent study.
