Description: The Bert Davies Collection. KM#97. Italy-Sardinia 1798 1/2-scudo. The listed mintage of 301,835 actually includes that of the 1/4-scudo, but the type is rarely found nevertheless, presumably from an extremely high attrition rate. The cataloger found only a single finer example in an NGC holder, graded MS-62, and this lead-grey piece, one point lower, still displays extensive luster over the low-relief design elements.
