Lot Title: Great Britain - 1951 Proof Set, and a 1953 Queen Elizabeth gold Coronation Medal
Lot Number: 138
Description: Walk The Plank Collection. A 1951 proof set contains ten coins, from the farthing to the crown, along within their original Royal Mint hinged cardboard holder, stamped outside with "Festival of Britain / 1951" in gold logotype. The coins appear to be astonishingly original, showing lovely patina and evidence of careful storage. NGC graded them PR63 to PR66 Cameo. These are accompanied by an extremely rare coronation medal, BHM-4448, struck in gold by Spink & Son as a private commemorative of the event (no official medals were struck for the coronation in 1953) graded MS65 by NGC. Previous examples in NGC MS-64 holders have auction comps north of $9000.00

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
