Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1834 Small Date, Small Letters PCGS MS-65
Lot Number: 777
Description: Overton-116. 10 graded MS-65, 1 higher at PCGS (for the Redbook variety). A new obverse hub introduced a doubled outline to the drapery clasp in 1834, and on the reverse, a small tine ejects downward and right from the upper arc of the eagle's left (observed) wing. Splendid luster spinning around either side nearly defies notions of what the mint should have been capable of some 180 years ago, and a very good strike created pleasing satiny texture overall. Almond-gold drapes over the entire surface, nudging toward bronze hue nearer the rims. Predictably for the PCGS grade, neither side sees any contact marks of consequence.
