Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1859 half-dollar J-241 NGC PR-65
Lot Number: 419
Description: Judd-241 features Liberty's portrait in what has been called a "French head" format, credited to Longacre, and this example, like most, has been struck extremely well. A knifelike rim erupts from half of the edge around either side. These are always seen with obvious die polish, visible as innumerable, narrowly parallel surface texture lines through the fields. In particular, the peripheral area bound between the rim and outer motifs displays an absolute plethora of almost erratic hairlines, imparted by the heavily polished die.
