Description: The Isallobar Collection. Mintage: 600. Key among the late dates, 1873 saw a mintage among the lower within the series, exacerbated by a poor survival rate that causes it to be even scarcer than preceding, lower-mintage 3-cent silver pieces. Even an example that meets only "choice" parameters per PCGS will be coveted by the collector who has already spent too much time locating any example in any grade. The surfaces here exhibit stark white presence that tends to downplay the minimal contrast, but the sharpness is "all there" as a proof, including rather carefully delineated star centers on the reverse.
