Description: The Isallobar Collection. As is usually the case for proof silver that doesn't reach into the "choice" levels, hairlines account for most of the grade-dependent characteristics. 1870 does offer remarkably bold definition, but the surfaces are clouded by the inevitable hairlines and hazy patina seen on either side. 1871 displays perhaps fewer hairlines, leading to better brilliance and reflectivity, but the fields on the reverse show some hazy texture that attenuates vibrancy. Two coin lot.
