Description: Bert Davies Collection. The cleaning referenced by NGC for the esteemed 1909-S VDB has toned down considerably over intervening decades such that the surface is only thinly hairlined and just barely "off color" with olive-drab hue. A sizeable planchet defect rests at the top of Lincoln's head. 1909-S retains outstanding sharpness and a hint of luster beneath classic, somewhat textured woodgrain toning. Two coin lot.
