Description: Sheldon-171, R.4. The obverse die is unique to S-171 with "E" balanced precariously above the curl beneath, and closer together with "R" than other letters are with their neighbors. On the reverse, the right foot of "T" is firmly embedded into the neighboring leaf. At the obverse upper left, an obvious cud provides a quick little shortcut toward affirmation of the die-marriage. A leather-brown example, some slightly frosty iron-grey glints from beneath the rather thick patina. In all honesty, the surface suffers more tiny nicks than average, but not a single one is singularly distracting, and the rim shows no particular signs of abuse.
