Lot Title: 1794 Head of 1794 Sheldon-63 F details/as described
Lot Number: 505
Description: Alfy Keller Collection. Sheldon-63. The colloquially named "fallen 4" 1794 large-cent obverse may not be so aptly described by that appellation, as the "4" is actually very nearly in the correct straight line with "17" in the date, and only appears low because the neighboring "9" was punched in too high, too close, and leans left a bit. The obverse looks unusually nice for a coin that offers Fine details (in your favorite cataloger's opinion) and displays slightly lustrous, smooth honey-brown patina. Signs of modest corrosion affect the reverse although overall, this side is not that unattractive and offers significant details for the technical level. A tiny dig in the hair, and an old hairline in front of the face have darkened appreciably with time but are worth mentioning.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
