Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1847 PCGS MS-63
Lot Number: 202
Description: 25 graded MS-63, 6 higher at PCGS. Flashier examples of 1847 exist, and some have even been proffered a "prooflike" (or "star") designation to highlight such a bonus attribute, and while not quite impressive enough to garner special consideration at PCGS, the appearance is obviously semi-prooflike in this instance. In fact, at some oblique viewing angles, the devices erupt from mirrored fields and yield a dramatic presentation. These dies were highly polished as is apparent from field striations, but a few stray handling hairlines do swirl into the fields. The most compelling grade-sensitive aspect may be a couple of pin scratches above the eagle's left (observed) wing.
