Description: 274 graded MS-64, 43 higher at PCGS. The run of San Francisco nickels from the early to mid 1920s comprise a strong challenge to the collector who wishes to put together a set of nicely detailed pieces with a preference for better planchets. Although the present example is rather well detailed for the date, the reverse die has been overused and displays signs of die erosion, visible as orange-peel effect near the rims and a slightly distorted mintmark. Technically, the surface looks uncommonly smooth and presentable even with wispy streaks of olive-grey.
