Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1895-S PCGS MS-62PL
Lot Number: 426
Description: Ready To Retire Collection. 27 graded MS-62 PL, 43 higher at PCGS. VAM-2 has a tilted mintmark, and a rim spike above "U" in LURIBUS. The "prooflike" designation certainly adds to the scarcity of this 1895-S dollar, but it is a legitimately difficult issue in any grade above the mint-state level. The mirrors offer moderate reflectivity in contrast to gently frosted devices, and create an appearance that is, for all intents, just like a true proof, right down to rather sharp central definition. Abrasions on the cheek and fluttering, wispy hairlines in the fields undoubtedly account for the grade.
