Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1884-S AU-55, and an 1898-S MS-64 CAC, both PCGS
Lot Number: 348
Description: Joanna H. Fogle Collection. Most collectors seeking "the right" 1884-S to satisfy a BU collection will settle upon an AU-58, but an alarming number of those (even certified) have been dipped white and dull, or otherwise "helped" in years past. Don't look beyond this unexpectedly nice AU-55, replete with highly attractive flashy fields and the accumulation of some ideal iron-grey patina to go along with the unabraded surface. 1898-S sports a CAC sticker, but honestly, the obverse seems a little noisy on the cheek for MS-64, at least under a loupe, although booming luster and attractive carrot-gold accents carry the day. Two coin lot.
