Lot Title: 1802 Narrow Date ANACS VF-35
Lot Number: 242
Description: The Dedication Consignment. Bolender-6, BB-242 represents the most available die-marriage for 1802, identified by the so-called "narrow date" obverse, which is actually merely the non-overdate, also identifiable by the lack of one foot for "T" in LIBERTY. Thirteen arrows appear on the reverse, but one is crowded nearly invisibly along the stem of the third from bottom. ANACS suggests a grade of VF-35, and even in an era where that service was known for offering net grades (small ANACS "cache" holder), one must assume the assessment depicts a "silent net grade", because some tooling below Liberty's neck and off into the obverse right field must be mentioned. That being said, bold details remain such that strands of hair are finely delineated, and there is even separation between her hairline and forehead.
