Lot Title: 1796 Large Date, Small Letters PCGS VF-25 CACCAC
Lot Number: 237
Description: Forest Park Collection II. Bolender-5, BB-65 has a large date obverse with the "6" visibly recut at the top, and the famous "apostrophe reverse" identifies instantly once the "I" in LIBERTY is examined. A breathtaking, original coin, this dollar has formed a cornerstone of the consignor’s type collection for multiple decades. It is a flawless and steeply original coin for the grade, showing only a smattering of trivial contact marks, none too busy, and strictly natural dove-grey and lavender patina. As expected of the slightly better middle grade assigned, some noticeable delineation of Liberty's tresses greets the eye, and the eagle retains a surprising level of sharpness that individually details many of the feathers. A very handsome survivor that deserves placement within a better type collection.
