Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1812 ANACS AU-53
Lot Number: 891
Description: The Before Collection. Overton-104 (ANACS incorrectly states O-104a) has the ends of the scroll ending precisely at the outer serifs of "D" and "A" above, and in this prime die state, one finds neither of the die-cracks that would develop later for die-state "a", including one reaching left off of "1" in the date, and connecting the stop of STATES. The coin is tough to grade. Although one will be hard-pressed to find all the luster expected of the AU-53 grade level, the sharpness seems more than ample by comparison to a typical 1812. An interesting oval-shaped toning pattern has progressed somewhat on the obverse, and darkened noticeably, nearly to an ebony shade on the reverse.
