Lot Title: 1881-S NGC MS-66+ Star
Lot Number: 457
Description: 13 graded MS-66+ "star", 217 higher (with "star") at NGC. 1881-S may have a reputation to uphold as the most common UNC silver dollar, but there is nothing common at all about this Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award winner. Dispense quickly with the reverse by noting that it is basically silver-white, then turn your attention to the pivotal visual-appeal of the obverse. Astounding, outrageous, and incomparably attractive, wave after wave of radiant ribbon-shaped bands flow with forest-green, sun-violet, chartreuse, violet-yellow and crimson tones. A full spectrum of vibrancy greets the eye, the carpet extends absolutely edge-to-edge, and incorporates a bit of inverted "pull away" effect atop a few letters along the right side. Dazzling, utterly mind-boggling beauty captured within near-ultimate technical presentation.
