Description: Bradford Pear Collection. A common myth assumes branch mints were not able to produce fully struck coins in the early part of the last century, but the prodigious details seen for this 1911-D prove otherwise. Denver's dies absolutely hammered out the details here, as Liberty displays full facial features, and the eagle's talons are fully delineated, albeit his beak has been mildly squashed by contact. A counting wheel has placed mild friction upon the rock that forms Liberty's base, but one buys a coin like this for the extraordinary presentation of detail.
