Description: Mintage: 53,800. Unevenly struck, several stars lack true definition, and the central portion of the eagle's motif most assuredly lacks sharpness expected of the type, suggesting a wretched state of the dies upon striking. Earlier stages of the dies were quite capable of creating boldly detailed examples, but the Carson City mint may have lost touch with quality control after a six year hiatus from striking half-eagles. Slightly flashy with delicate, butternut accents in the fields.
