Description: Zodiac Consignment. Briggs 4-E, FS-501 is one of the truly outstanding varieties within the Seated Liberty quarter collection, as it incorporates a terrific overpunched mintmark. The first "S" was errantly punched into the die using the punch for a smaller denomination (half-dime or dime), and subsequently corrected by an overstamped, "large S". Very pale, thin greyish patina graces both sides of this example that essentially has XF details, although PCGS may have net-graded slightly due to slightly matte surface texture. Nevertheless, the astute collector will be delighted with the level of sharpness provided by a very good strike.
