Description: VAM-1 displays faint doubling of the top of Liberty's cap, but attribution might be more easily ascertained by the positioning well left of normal for the "CC" mintmark. An atypically nice example, this "choice" 1879-CC features some distinct cameo effect, although the fields are fully lustrous and not really reflective. Careful observers may quickly notice some extensive planchet striations positioned nearly vertically upon the portrait. They are a bit unusual in their prominence for 1879-CC. Fortunately, the clean strike and fairly unmarked surface interplay beautifully with the shimmering white frost, producing a coin that will prove irresistible to many bidders.
