Lot Title: 1915 PCGS MS-63 (rattler) CACCAC
Lot Number: 948
Description: Shawl Consignment. 22 graded MS-63, 50 higher at PCGS. The Philadelphia mint concluded its emission of Barber half-dollars with three years of very low mintage examples, allowing the branch mints to take on the job of filling the production quotas. 1915 is a key in all grades, and while not rare at the mint-state level, attractive, pristine coins are not easy to locate. This choice, frosty white example features exuberant luster and an absolutely phenomenal, complete strike. That said, the cataloger notes that the obverse has been peppered with perhaps a few more tiny contact marks than typical of the grade, although CAC did not seem to mind. Nicer quality becomes evident when one turns to the reverse, where the only contact appears to be a few ticks at the center of the shield.
