Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1835 NGC AU-58
Lot Number: 749
Description: B-1 is the most common die-marriage for 1835, characterized by an unusually high "3" in the date, although for this earlier die-state, the die crack typically seen arcing above the eagle's head and right (observed) wing has barely formed, and cannot be seen without a loupe. Given the newer dies, expectations run high for strike quality, and meets little disappointment. Liberty's bust shows some indistinct definition, while the eagle's talons are reasonably well brought up, but not perfectly so by any means. The toning pattern seems a bit streaky, and suggests that the coin may have been held in an album with a piece of tape at some point, now properly conserved.
