Description: Savoy Letter Collection. 164 graded PR-67, 36 higher at PCGS. Often cited as the aesthetically superior of the two finishes for 1936, the "brilliant finish" is referenced as "type-2" on the old PCGS green-label slab. Preferences notwithstanding, the quality of the present superb gem cannot be denied, as lovely Nordic-blue flows into the shimmering, bright fields and contrasts wonderfully with salmon-gold layered atop the high-relief areas. If an artist intended to create a work of art, it would be hard to top this. The grade, esteemed as it may be, becomes limited by the presence a tiny carbon spot to far right of the obverse, and exceedingly fine, faint carbon micro-dots sparsely scattered on the reverse.
