Description: Watertown Collection. Mintage: 10,500. 13 graded MS-64, 17 higher at NGC. As is often seen for any of the series of low emission gold dollars (after 1862), the surface exhibits mostly prooflike characteristics, including substantially reflective fields and frosted motifs. Pleasant golden hue flashes from the wide-open expanses and suffers scarcely any contact at all, with perhaps a paltry number of wispy grazes responsible for the grade. Suspended in the obverse lower left field is a minuscule planchet flaw that could serve as a pedigree marker.
