Lot #600 - Four chop marked Trade dollars

Silver Dollar-Trade Dollars
Judo chop! The Trade silver dollar was designed and distributed by the United States Mint in an attempt to compete with other countries ‘trade” silver coins that were being used in East Asia. As a result, these were very commonly “chop marked” as a practice of authentication. Four such examples come together to make this group lot that includes an 1874-S and 3x 1875-S issues. Each of these displays various chop marks with lightly cleaned fields and Almost Uncirculated details (ck).

Lot #771 - 1814 Small Date PCGS AU-53

Dimes-Capped Bust
JR-1, the only "small date" die-marriage characterized by weakness of strike at the obverse upper right and reverse lower right. The latter side displays pleasing and fairly extensive flowline texture while the obverse was lightly cleaned at some point, now showing finely recovered greyish hue. An overall pleasing example of an uncommon date within the series.
